AB 818 (Blumenfield) - Renter's Right to Recycle Act
Summary.
Position and Status. AB 818 passed the legislature and was signed in to law by Governor Jerry Brown. (Sample letter sent to the Governor by CAW members)
While nearly 70 percent of Californians living in single family homes have access to curbside recycling, no more than 40 percent of those living in multifamily dwellings have access to a residential recycling opportunity-and many of those are unaware of it. AB 818 will require that an owner of a multifamily dwelling to arrange appropriate recycling services for the dwelling. The bill is similar to AB 2206 Montañez), AB 548 (Levine), and AB 473 (Blumenfield), which were vetoed by Governor Schwarzenegger. CAW Staff Contacts. Mark Murray and Nick Lapis (916) 443-5422
