More reverse vending machinesI would like to see a law that makes more reverse vending machine available to the public. I think that the recycling collectors should have to put more of them in based on some predetermined formula or maybe better yet based on the number of containers recycled in a given area. I live in South Orange county and we only have three of these machines that I know of, one within a mile, one about five miles away and the last somewhere around 10 miles off.  Since the increase in the CRV value this year it is getting harder and harder to get access to these machines. Lines are typically 4 to 6 people deep on both machines on just about any given day. Not only that but the machines are almost always full far before closing time. These machines are the only way that the consumer can get the full value of his/hers CRV containers. According to the website for the state Deprtment of Recycling: ""The consumer has the right to be paid per container when bringing in 50 (fifty) containers or less of each material type (aluminum, plastic, glass, and bimetal) in a single load." I have yet to find a recycling center that honors this requirements. TOMRA appears to runs most if not all the recycling centers in our area and though these machines cost a pretty penny I am sure at the current rate of recycling these machine would pay for themselves in a short time. But face it, when they can pay you 66 cents on the dollar why would they want to install more machines? They get a flat rate per ton period and if they can "cheat" you the bigger their profit. That is why we must have legislation to force them to install more machines. At least force them to adhere to the requirements and have them pay us 5 cents and 10 cents per container up to 50 container per type as stated by the State.
