Davis Street Transfer Station 2007

CAW staff takes a tour of Waste Management's Davis Street Transfer Station in San Leandro, CA.

This facility sorts garbage for landfilling, residential blue-bin and construction derbis for recycling, and greenwaste for compost, biomass, and landfill cover. Click here for more information on Davis Street.

CAW Birthday 2007

On September 5, 2007, CAW celebrated its 30th year of recycling policy success. We honored Recycling's "Legislators of the Year" Senator Joe Simitian and Assembly Member Lori Saldaña.

CAW participated in an electronic waste collection press event on June 13, 2007. CAW Executive Director spoke about e-waste issues and laws and AB 48 alongside Assemblymembers Lori Saldaña and Dave Jones. The Department of Toxics Substances Control Chief Deputy Director Leonard Robinson was also in attendance.

CAW participated in the Sacramento Zoo's Earth Fest on April 7, 2007. CAW staff maned a booth to spread the word about what you can do to reduce waste. We also helped children make reusable pinwheels made of recycled paper and pencils, while teaching them the importance of reusing and recycling.

CAW Birthday 2006

On August 22, 2006, CAW celebrated its 29th birthday party at Gaylord Restaurant in Sacramento. We honored Recycling's "Legislators of the Year," Assembly Member Cindy Montañez and Assembly Member Paul Koretz as well as our "Recycling Hero," current CIWMB Board Member Gary Petersen.
