CAW is celebrating 36 years of recycling success today. With the help of members, supporters and the Legislators who have championed recycling policy, CAW has become the nation's oldest, largest and most effective non-profit environmental organization advocating for the implementation of waste reduction and recycling policies and programs. The policies and programs we’ve advocated have helped to create a thriving recycling economy, which now supports hundreds of thousands of jobs in California.
Each year, we honor lawmakers and advocates who display environmental leadership through the policies and programs they champion. This year, we are very pleased to honor Speaker of the Assembly, John A Pérez and Senator Loni Hancock.
We also thank and greatly appreciate our members whom, since 1977, have helped us conserve resources, prevent pollution, benefit the economy and protect California’s environment—making our state a nation-leader. We know we couldn't do it without you!
While we celebrate our accomplishments, we’re aware that there’s so much more to be done; we look forward to future partnerships and innovative ideas.
