Jan 23 - Support Needed for Santa Clara County Proposal to Reduce Single Use Bags

The City of San Jose is seeking public comment next week on its ordinance to reduce single use grocery bags by putting an advance disposal fee on them. The ordinance would be a model for all 15 cities in Santa Clara County, as well as County unincorporated areas. The meetings will take place Wednesday, January 28, from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm and on Thursday, January 29, from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at City Hall Council Chambers (200 E. Santa Clara St., San Jose, CA 95113). The measure will be voted on in a city environmental committee on Monday, February 1.

Elsewhere in the Bay Area, the City of San Bruno will be voting on a polystyrene ban Tuesday, Jan 27. Also, The City of Monterey will be voting on a polystyrene ban Tuesday, Feb 3.
