Tomorrow is International Coastal Cleanup Day. Volunteers in all of California's counties will be out tomorrow morning removing litter from waterways and beaches. Data from the clean up day is used to create a litter characterization study. Cigarettes, polystyrene and plastic bags are consistently among the top items cleaned up.
Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi will be joined by environmentalists tomorrow morning for a press conference in Santa Monica to discuss policy solutions to the ongoing problem of marine litter.
