Jul 25 - Lt. Governor Calls for Speedy Action on Marine Debris

Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi toured California's coast line today in order to bring attention to the need for action on plastic marine debris pollution. In stops in Southern and Northern California he told reporters that a suit of marine debris bills, including CAW-sponsored AB 2058 (Levine: Bags), SB 1625 (Corbett: CRV) and AB 2505 (Brownley: PVC), should be passed by the legislature this year. CAW Policy Associate Bryan Early told reporters in San Fransisco:

"We are pleased with the leadership role the lieutenant governor and the Ocean Protection Council have taken on marine debris pollution and we hope this report helps convince legislators and the governor that this is something that needs to move forward sooner rather than later," (CAW) Plastic Waste Reduction Campaign coordinator Bryan Early said.
