Starting Saturday, September 15, Sony, partnering with Waste Management will be taking back your old Sony electronics for free at 75 e-waste recycling centers in the country, 17 of them in California. Mike Freeman of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Sony program is different than other manufacturers, such as Dell, which accepts discarded e-waste for free no matter the brand, but requires customers to mail back the electronics to Dell. CAW Executive Director Mark Murray is quotes as saying:
Sony has stepped in and covered the cost of recycling and also given folks an avenue for collections. That is a good thing.
