May 17 - Illinois Set to Ban Incandescents in State Buildings

An Illinois State House Bill requiring large state buildings to transition from incandescent to compact fluorescent lighting has passed the State Senate and is expected to be signed into law by Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. Lighting production produces a significant share of greenhouse gasses.

The Illinois bill also requires compact fluorescents to be disposed of in a safe manner.

CAW is currently sponsoring AB 1109 (Huffman) which would increase lighting efficiency in the state, while reducing pollution produced from these lighting devices.
