The Palo Alto City Council is expected to vote next month on an ordinance that would ban the distribution of plastic bags at supermarkets.  Plastic bags are a dangerous component of marine debris pollution.

If the City Council adopts the ban, it will join the cities of San Francisco, Oakland, Fairfax, Los Angeles City and County, Malibu and Manhattan Beach in addressing this major component of urban plastic litter.
