Jun 19 - Milk Added to Alberta Bottle BillSubmitted by Recycling News on June 19, 2009 - 11:26.
Milk bottles in Alberta will be included in the Canadian province's beverage container recycling program starting Monday. Albertans will pay a deposit ranging from 10-25 cents which will be returned to them when they recycle the containers. While there is no proposal pending in California to add Milk containers to the recycling program, a statewide poll indicated that 60% of Californians supported adding paper milk cartons to the recycling program and 73% supported adding plastic milk jugs. More than 74% of beverage containers covered by the California program are recycled, while less than 25% of milk containers are recycled.
