Gwen Schoen of the Sacramento Bee reports that one of easiest ways consumers can reduce their production of waste is by buying food that comes with minimal packaging. Mark Murray, Executive Director of CAW, tells the Schoen that consumers should apply "reduce, reuse and recycle" to their shopping trips:
Murray also tells the Bee that, when they have a choice, consumers should buy products that can be recycled in their blue bin at home, including paperboard and plastics #1-2. Plastics #3-7 are generally not recyclable. CAW and Zero Waste:
