Aug 19 - LA County Recommends Plastic Bag Ban

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works has recommended the Board of Supervisors move forward with its proposed plastic bag ban ordinance. The Board had voted in 2008 to ban plastic bags if stores did not reduce plastic bag use by 30% by July 2010. According to a report released today, most stores did not provide the data necessary to determine if that reduction benchmark had been met. LA County Public Works also recommended the Board continue their support of the statewide bag ban bill, AB 1998.
