May 26 - Californians Recycled 82% of Beverage Containers in 2009

California continues to be the leader in the nation in recycling beverage containers.

During 2009, Californians recycled more than 17.2 billion beverage containers, or an 82% recycling rate. This is an increase from 2008's recycling rate of 74%.
