Dec 5 - Michigan Introduces Plastic Bag Ban Bill

The Michigan State Legislature is considering a bill that would ban plastic bags at large stores by 2012. The bill, authored by Michigan State Legislators Ray Basham and Gilda Jacobs, would phase in the ban by requiring large stores to reduce their distribution of plastic bags by 50% starting 2010.
