Texas Governor Rick Perry signs House Bill 2714, which would require computer manufacturers that sell their products in Texas to develop convenient and consumer free programs to collect and recycle their own brand products. Plans for these programs have to be submitted by September 1, 2008 to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Texas follows Washington, Oregon and most recently Minnesota, which all passed Producer Responsibility e-waste laws. The Texas law; however, is limited to only monitors, desktop and laptop computers.
