flourescent v incandescent

We recently replaced the flourescent light fixtures in our office with incendescent. Flourescent lights drain your energy and speaking for myself, I can't see properly and make mistakes when working under them. Trouble is, now I am having a problem getting rid of the old flourescent lights. I have noticed, while checking out possible disposal options that even the new compact flourescent bulbs cannot be disposed of in the regular trash. These things will wear out eventually and we are going to have a polution problem. I am definitely not in favor of discontinuing incandescent light bulbs.
