Mar 9 - SF to Expand Anti-Plastic Bag Proposal

A San Francisco legislative committee wants to expand a proposed ordinance that would require large grocers to use only compostable plastic or recyclable paper bags (Mar 5 - SF Proposes Compostable Bag Ordinance). The committee delayed a decision on the ordinance because it wanted the proposal to cover a larger number of retail outlets, not just retailers making over $2 million in sales annually as the proposal had originally called for. The proposalâ€"with the new languageâ€"should be heard in committee by March 22.
