May 31 - California Assembly Passes Legislation to Phase Out Toxic Electronics!

The California State Assembly has passed legislation to phase out the use of most toxic materials in electronics.

AB 2202 by Assembly Member Lori Saldana (D-San Diego) will, effective January 2010, prohibit manufacturers from selling electronic devices and components containing toxic materials. The measure tracks the provisions of the European ROHS directive which takes effect in July.

The measure passed the Assembly late Wednesday evening on a 42-38 vote. The measure now goes to the State Senate. Check out how each Assembly Member voted on this measure.
