*Update: The bill fell just 3 votes short of passage (38 to 33) and was granted reconsideration. It can be revoted on once more on the Assembly floor before the Aug 31 midnight deadline.*
Today's the day for a floor vote on the bag bill.
The Assembly floor is expected to begin session at noon, and the state bag ban, SB 270, is file item number 117 and will be heard sometime after that. The bag bill most recently passed out of the Assembly Appropriations committee on August 14.
Watch the floor session live starting at noon (see below, if not working, link can also be found here).
Once passed in the full Assembly, the bill will have to return to the Senate for a committee and concurrent floor vote before it heads to Governor Brown for a signature.
Stay tuned for updates, and thank you for your support of the bill and our work. We wouldn't be where we are today without you.
Now let's make this the year that California passes the first statewide measure to ban single-use plastic grocery bags.
