Feb 18 - California Lighting Toxics Reduction and Recycling Act Introduced

Assemblymember Blumenfield is introducing AB 2176, a bill that will require producers of mercury containing lamps to provide convenient recycling program. Lamps that don’t contain mercury, and are deemed less efficient will pay an annual fee as determined by the California Energy Commission. Funds collected would go to fund projects that improve lighting efficiency; reduce the toxic impacts from lighting technologies and other projects to reduce, remediate and mitigate the impact of mercury lighting.
