Feb 27 - Santa Monica Directs Staff to Draft Bag Ordinance

The Santa Monica City Council agreed in a unanimous vote yesterday to draft an ordinance that would ban plastic bags from all retail establishments, and also to direct city staff to explore the feasibility of mandating a fee on paper bags. If adopted, Santa Monica's plastic bag litter ordinance would be the most comprehensive in the nation.
