Bulb Ban Sparks Backlash

The Los Angeles Times this weekend editorialized against Assembly Member Lloyd Levine's AB 722, a proposal which, in its current form, would prohibit the sale of energy sucking incandescent bulbs. The Times called instead for setting and 'energy efficiency target for all lighting.' Brilliant!

Had the nameless Times editorial writer done a quick search of other legislation introduced in California this year they might have spotted AB 1109 by Assembly Member Jared Huffman (and sponsored by CAW) that proposes exactly the technology neutral energy efficiency standards called for in the editorial.

And had the Times writer picked up the phone and talked to Assembly Member Levine, they would have learned that Levine is looking at an efficiency standard approach in his bill as well. Stay tuned.
