Jan 4 - DC Bag Fee Goes Into Effect
A Washington DC law that requires retailers to collect a $0.05 per bag fee went into effect January 1. The law is designed to reduce plastic bag litter pollution in the Anacostia River.
Washington is the first city in the nation to implement a bag fee.
