Sept 6 - Lighting Efficiency Bill Passes Senate

AB 1109 by Assemblymember Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) passed out of the Senate today on a bipartisan 23-16 vote. The bill, which would reduce energy usage for lighting along with reducing the amount of hazardous chemicals such as lead and mercury in lighting, now heads back to the Assembly on concurrence of Senate amendments. The bill haswide-spread support from manufacturers and environmental groups.
