Mar 9 - UK Council Decides to Do More About Bags

ePolitix.com recently reported on a decision by the Camden Council (UK) to reduce consumption of plastic bags, an issue many communities in California are likewise examining.  Cllr John Thane, Executive Member for Environment, is quoted as saying,

“It's a problem that affects us all, causing litter on our streets and pollution to our parks, wildlife and waterways, as well as contributing to global climate change.”

The UK reportedly uses 10 billion plastic bags a year.  California uses nearly twice as many at 19 billion plastic bags annually.
