Sept 26 - Sacramento Businesses Will Need to Start Recycling or Face Fines

Back in April businesses in most of Sacramento County were required to start recycling programs; however, the city has had a tough time getting the word out. Businesses that produce four cubic yards of waste weekly will need to comply with this new measure. If they don't businesses could face a $2,000 a day fine, although according to Dennis Green, who manages the county's hazardous materials program, businesses seem to be really into it. Ed Fletcher of the Sacramento Bee reports.

"We are finding that people are very enthusiastic about it, especially the larger businesses," Green said.

The program has the support of environmental groups and the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
