Nov 20 - OPC Calls for Bag Fee, Polystyrene Ban
The California Ocean Protection Council adopted implementation strategy for its earlier marine debris resolution today in a unanimous vote.
The report calls for placing fees on single use plastic bags and banning polystyrene food packaging. The report also recommends extending Extended Producer Responsibility laws, like California's Bottle Bill, to other packaging.
CAW and Marine Debris Reduction:
- SB 1625 (Corbett) - Would have expanded California's Bottle Bill to more plastic packaging.
- AB 2058 (Levine, Brownley, Davis) - Would have put a fee on all single-use carry-out bags.
